Tragic accident in St. Louis: Mother and daughter from Chicago killed
Laticha Bracero, 42, and her daughter Alyssa Cordova, 21, both from Chicago, were killed in a tragic traffic accident in downtown St. Louis.
Family and friends described Bracero and Cordova as vibrant, energetic and close.
They were in St. Louis to attend a Drake concert at the Enterprise Center.
As they crossed the street at 18th and Olive after the concert, they were hit by a Jeep Cherokee that had previously sideswiped two other vehicles.
Bracero, a supervisor at Wintrust Bank in Chicago, and Cordova, who worked part-time at Starbucks while attending college, were known for attending concerts together and were considered a close family.
Police said the two women were crossing the street at the time of the crash.
The driver of the Jeep, 22-year-old Monte Henderson, was hospitalized in critical condition after the accident.
He was later released on $20,000 bail, 10 percent of the bail set. Henderson now faces several charges, including two counts of involuntary manslaughter.
The family has launched a GoFundMe campaign to pay for Bracero and Cordova’s return home and burial. The community mourns the loss of two beloved people who will be remembered as “the life of the party” and as people who were always willing to help.
